Most portable roughness testers show you a number, perhaps an image of a profile, on a small screen. But what if you want to do more with your roughness tester? How can you unlock the vast amount of information in your data, without spending thousands of euros?

Digital Metrology’s TraceBoss software instantly connects to most portable roughness testers to allow you to view your data in full screen, with the most important parameters. Its simple interface is designed for fast production measurements, to help you see, save and understand your surfaces like never before.

VISUALIZE your data

Most roughness meters only display a single value or, at best, a low-resolution profile on a small screen. TraceBoss presents your data in rich graphs, so you can see the surface and explore it. Highly visible colors make it easy to interpret results, even in a production environment. You can add an image to indicate the exact location of the measurement. Do you want to change a setting? Simply double click on it.

SAVE your data

Monitoring a process requires data that can be compared over time. But with a standard roughness tester, once a measurement is taken, that data disappears. It is up to you to write down the results and find them in a file cabinet when you need them again. With TraceBoss you can save all measurements to disk and retrieve them later with a click. Generate numerical results for SPC, capture the measurement screen as PDF or save the entire measurement to disk to open it again later in TraceBoss.

Monitoring of all common parameters

TraceBoss calculates all common parameters and presents them on a single screen, no need to search through configuration pages to find the data you need! Set parameter tolerances so you can see at a glance if a measurement passes or fails.

Make sense of parameters Rk and Rq

TraceBoss shows you the material ratio or material probability curve together with the measurement data. The display helps you to quickly see the relationship between the Rk/Rq parameters and the peaks and valleys they describe. You can instantly connect the Rvk results (blue in the image below, or the red/pink Rpk results) to the measured surface.
