Finishing liquids for metallography

Metallographic finishing liquids are chemicals used to improve the surface quality of the metallographic sample after the polishing process. These liquids are usually composed of aqueous solutions of acids, bases, salts and other chemical compounds. Finishing liquids are applied to the sample surface using a soft cloth or pad and are used to remove scratches, marks and surface defects that may have remained after the polishing process. They can also be used to highlight the microstructural features of the sample and improve the visual appearance of the surface.

Final finishing liquid

Aqueous suspension of non-agglomerated nanometric silica stabilized in alkaline medium. It is used for superfinishing, to obtain ultra-low roughness. Very easy to use and applicable on all types of materials. It does not crystallize.

Recommended use: dilute 10 to 20% in water.

Finishing liquid L1

Final polishing suspension specially formulated for mechanical-chemical polishing. During use, the active substances in the solution embrittle the surface to be polished, thus optimizing the effectiveness of the abrasive grains. It allows to combine performance (chip removal) and polishing quality. Recommended for titanium and its alloys.

Recommendation for use: ready-to-use preparation.

Finishing liquid L2

Solution composed of ceramic oxides and silica. Ideal for preparing your surface before the superfinishing step. Recommended for polishing aluminum and its alloys.

ALPLAN Liquids

New final polishing solutions composed of very high purity aluminum oxides. These alumina preparations are subjected to a forced deagglomeration treatment, which results in an excellent polishing quality.

The easy-to-use ALPLAN solutions can be used on all types of materials.

Recommendation for use: use pure or diluted up to 50% with water.
